red mail ALICE BROYD
My great aunt ALICE ELLEN BROYD was born in West Ham in 1878. Her parents were William Broyd and Elizabeth. In 1901, unmarried, she was still living in West Ham with her parents. After that date I can find no trace of her. As a child I met all her brothers and sisters, but as far as I can remember Alice's name was never mentioned and I only knew of her existance when I began to trace my family. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

red mail Charles Thomas/Annie Davis
I have been trying unsuccessfully to trace my grandfather - Charles THOMAS, born about 1866 and a Merchant Seaman. He married Annie Elizabeth DAVIS in 1900 at St. Luke's Church in Victoria Docks. They were living in Chauntler Road, West Ham at the time of the 1901 census (which records Charles' birth place as Plymouth), but in 1903 (when their son was born) they were lodging with the COBB family in Chandler Avenue, West Ham. In 1910, Annie was found drowned in Victoria Dock, with her month old baby, and her 4-year old son was then raised by the Guardians of the Poor of West Ham. At the Inquest it was recorded that a Henry COBB regularly visited Annie and gave her money! Charles THOMAS is known to have been in Australia/New Zealand at some time between 1904 and 1908, But I can find no trace of him before his marriage in 1900 nor after his wife's death in 1908. If anybody can offer any help or advice, I shall be eternally grateful.
red mail Parker Family
I am trying to traced my great grandparents Thomas A and Mary A Parker, there children were Lucy, Ellen, George (my grandfather) Maud and Arthur. Thomas was born in Rushden, Northants in about 1834 and Mary was born in about 1840 in Long Sutton, Lincs. As my grandfather died in an industrial accident in a laundry in 1922, (my father was only two at the time), I have no information on the family after this, except that my grandfather's sister Lucy married (name Street), and when grandfather she registered his death and was at that time living in Lee, Kent. red mail Webb family - West Ham
Hi, Can you help me find my John Webb or indeed his father? I am tracing the Webb family tree, starting with Kenneth Alfred Webb born 15th Feb. 1936. His father was: Alfred James Webb - Mother: Sarah Elizabeth Stewart. Alfred James was born 29th March 1906, Canning Town, Plaistow his Father was: James William Webb - Mother: Charlotte Prentice. James William was born 13th June 1872 his Father was John Webb - Mother: Elizabeth Hooker. John Webb was born 1842 perhaps in Poplar London, his Father was: John Webb (stated on marriage certificate) In various census the son John, a boilermaker, claims his birth was Poplar, London; or Bow, Middlesex. That means he could have been born in Essex, London or Middlesex. However I just can not find his birth. Without his birth information I can not find his father John. The son John, our boilermaker, married Elizabeth Hooker in Stepney, London in 1863 declaring his father to be John Webb. A John Webb signed as a witness to the marriage. So all I need do is find a census of John Webb with a son John of the same year. Did you know there was an unofficial law that states all John Webbs must name their first born son John! There are so many John Webbs in the census reports that it is overwhelming. I am tracking them down one by one but it is very long and very tedious task. John and Elizabeth had a large family: John 1865, Joseph 1867, George 1869, James 1871, Clara Jane 1875, Eliza 1877, and Elizabeth 1879. Most of these in turn had large families so there must be thousands of people who are related to this family. I only need to find one! I have exhausted all my ideas to find his father John Webb who I would think was born roughly 1810 - 1820's The Registery claim not enough information to find the son John’s birth entry. Do any of these names ring any bells - or if you can offer any suggestions that I could try, I would be really grateful if you could contact me. Thank you at least for reading this message and good luck in your own research.

red mail Stevens, Grove House, early 1800s
I am searching for information on the family of John and Jane (Bevans)Stevens who resided at Grove House, West Ham, in the early 1800s. My ancestor Francis Augustus Stevens was born at Grove House in 1822. John's parents were Stephen and Martha (Bamford) Stevens. I understand there was a related Giles family. A Stevens genealogy was circulated among the family in America in the early 1900s. There was mention of Stephen of Beddington Corners, the "Ormskirk powders", someone committed to an insane asylum. A relative wrote me referencing information in that genealogy, but today no one can locate a copy. I understand the area where Grove House was located is now a beautiful public park. I would be pleased to learn anything of the area.
