Does anyone remember the shop Sainsbury and Sainsbury Typwriter Machanics on Hoe street bridge, Walthamstow or Leytonstone. My Dad Mr Hogg worked there from leaving the RAF until he retired in about 1968.Maybe someone has a photo of it please.

Looking for information on Daniel Emery b1874 Barnstaple. In Walthamstow around 1907, whereabouts after that unknown.
My grandmother Rose Harmond married twice, once to a Mr Clapp (several children) and once to a Mr Williams (my grandfather), by whom she had Gladys Williams, a hairdresser and a younger Leonard Williams, my dad (b. 1910). Lived in and around Hoe Street Walthamstow.

I am looking for my family on my mum's side my great grandfather was a James Dady who had children Rose, Earnest, Edwin and Charles, he also had children with a lady named wright, May Daisy Frank and Fred who took the surname of wright. James Dady's father came over in the potato famine 1845-47 and became a london policeman around this area James Dady was born we believe in Walthamstow as was my grandad Fred Wright. Any one who can recognise any of these people i would love to hear from you.

Kate Walker b. 1885 had 3 brothers, Robert b 1879; Daniel b. 1880; Henry John b.1883 & 2 sisters, Edith b. 1887 & Emily b.1889. Her mother Edith b. 1861 d 1984 & John Walker, father b. 1854 d. 1929 remarried to Mary by 1901. Any help with these Walkers or the 9 Marshall offspring of Kate & Fred - Fred, Lilian (my mother), George, Bill (William?), Albert, Iris, Joyce, Florence & Edith. Any help would he most grateful. I have information I am happy to share.

Has anyone any information on the Alice and Bert Harper who lived in Cedars Avenue in the 1950's. Alice was born about 1895 in Chingford and her maiden name was Smith. Bertie was born in Christchurch Hants about 1887. Bertie was a "bookies runner" and a seaman I believe.

Looking for information on Robert A. Tucker, Photographer, who lived at 2, Isabella Villas, Walthamstow (later renumbered 77, Winchester Road) in 1901 with his wife Eleanor. Would be interested to know of any decendants, family or where the house was situated or of photographic studios in Walthamstow at the turn of the last century. The house may have been occupied by his brother Frederick Tucker, also a photographer, in the 1920's/30's.

Her father's name was John Freeman and he was a Commercial Traveller/Pawnbroker. James R. Finch, whose occupation was that of policeman, was the father of Charles Finch born in 1850 in Walthamstow,Essex. James and his wife Elizabeth Mary Roberts were married in 1845. I do not have a date of death for James but I wonder if Elizabeth went on to run a hotel with her other children (by 1881Census information) after he died.Charles emigrated to NSW,Australia prior to 1881.

We are trying to trace the family histories of John Thomas KING (born abt. 1874) and his wife Caroline Elizabeth WHITLAND (born abt. 1873). We cannot find their births or marriage in the GRO indexes or entries for them in the 1881 census. John Thomaswas a coalporter. They had a son John Thomas (born abt. 1895) and a daughter Florence Rosina (born in 1900) but we cannot find the family in the 1901 census. Their other children were William George (born 1901), Margaret Harriet (born 1905) and AmyEdith (born 1908). John William (born 1896), the son of Rose WHITLAND, lived with the family. Any help with our researches would be much appreciated.
William PORTER and family
William Porter(1833 - 1913) and his wife Amy (1846 - 1900) moved to Walthamstow in the late 1860s. They had the following children: William and Edward (both born on the Isle of Dogs) and John, Thomas, Emma, George, Sarah, Walter, Elizabeth and Annie(all born in Walthamstow). John married Emily Harriet Dorrington in 1895. Walter emigrated to Canada in 1913 with his wife Ada and children William, John, Annie, George and Charles. John WINSBURY (1820-1900), a scale-maker, died Walthamstow. He was father of another John WINSBURY (1855-1929), who married Alice MORGAN, and had two sons John Reuben and Allen Joseph. Lucy WINSBURY, a sister of the first-mentioned John WINSBURY, married James WHITE and emigrated to New Zealand in 1859.
William SPENCER born in Walthamstow in about 1825 as was his sister Elizabeth. Father Peter, mother Elizabeth. Later siblings were born in inner London. William married Fanny HITCHENS and children William, Fanny and Ben.
