My father, John Anthony Webb b 1931 and his elder sister Betty Rosaline Webb b 1924 had grandparents in Thundersley or nearby, and Betty (and possibly John) were born there. Their parents were Robert and Marie Webb who lived (as far as I know, certainly later on) in Addlestone, Surrey. Can anyone remember this family in the first half of the 20th century? Robert's mother's maiden name was Sarah Havis and she came from Hadleigh, but spent her married life in Plumstead. Marie's mother, Lizzie Phoebe came originally from Saltley, Birmingham, but her married (?) life is a bit of a mystery - Marie's father was registered in 1902 as Henry Thomas Gardener, but he has been untraceable; she also used her mother's maiden name of Fletcher. It is possible that Marie's mother also lived in Thundersley or nearby in the 1920s and 30s, either as Mrs Gardener or Mrs Fletcher. Robert and Marie married in London in 1922 but I would like to find out how and where they met .
red mail SCUDDER, John
SCUDDER is my maiden name and I have traced them back to my 4 x gt. grandfather who is John Scudder. I only have his name (from one of his sons marriage certificates) and approximate dates as I cannot locate him on any other records. I believe he must have been born abt. 1785 and he died sometime between about 1818-1820. His wife Rebecca, formerly WISBY/WISBIE gave birth to their last child probably early in 1821(Richard)and then remarried to a James PRATT 26th Nov 1821. If anyone can help with locating John's Christening/Birth details or death details I would be most appreciative. SARAH - AUSTRALIA
red mail Scudders of Thundersley, Essex
Trying to find info on my 3X great grandmother. Her name was Hannah Scudder and she was born in Thundersley in 1809. No record of her anywhere but the census records for 1841-1881 show her as born in Thundersley. She married John Lancaster in 1829 and William Taylor, my 3X great grandfather in 1841'ish. She was living in Stepney, Middlesex when she married John Lancaster and stayed there until her death. There are no baptism records for Hannah in Rayleigh Thundersley so either she was not baptized or she was baptized elsewhere. Thanks, Lisa

red mail Cornwell
My great grandparents James Thomas Goodman CORNWELL (1850 - 1930) and Sarah HALLS (1855 - 1930) lived in a small cottage called Cockleshell Hall in Thundersley until they died in 1930. My grandmother Mary Ann (Annie) LEIGH nee CORNWELL was a District Nurse and emigrated to Canada in 1907 with her husband John LEIGH and her young son John Laurence LEIGH who was my father. She returned to Rayleigh, Essex, in 1910 for the birth of my aunt Dorothy Margaret Cornwell LEIGH. I would love to make contact with any descendants of the CORNWELLs, HALLS, and GOODMANs.
