red mail Help Needed
Needing help finding the correct Frederick Pooley. What I know for certain: Frederick Pooley born 1881, had two children Maurice Pooley (1912) & Lillian Pooley (1914) born Peldon Essex. He died in Newark 1953. From army documents I have found his army number was 99913, he was in the Royal Engineers and served in France. His documents say he was married and that next of kin was Agnes? Pooley. As a family we were led to believe Frederick had his children to an Audrey Ann Bates but they never married. Did he lie on the documents as Audrey was married to someone else? If anybody has access to different army records and could at least find me a birth place for Frederick from them. Audrey was from Norfolk so I believe Frederick was born either Norfolk or Peldon.

red mail BICKMORE family
Tracing BICKMORE family history. My GG grandfather Isaac James BICKMORE b-1844 (Oct 3rd) in Harwich, Essex & had a sister, Elizabeth R BICKMORE b-1847-8. Any more siblings? In 1865 Isaac married Nellie (maiden name unknown) in Marylebone county, Middlesex. Did they have any children? Around 1870 Isaac moved to Australia where he (re)married Eliza BASLEY b-1847 Hammersmith, Middlesex. Isaac's parents were James & Mary Boyden (maiden name COULTER) married June 1842 in Tendring, Essex. James BICKMORE was a baker by trade - he was listed as a pauper in the 1871 Tendring Union Workhouse census & he died in 1874. Any information is welcome :) Thanks in advance - Emma

red mail Mynheers of Harwich
Henry Mynheer, coast guard on revenue cutter Scout, b 1816 Deal. Lived with family in Harwich from around 1830 until his death in 1882. I have good documentation for him from the census & bmd's & National Archive info on coast guards. Wife Ann (Barber) whose father was a mariner; Children Elizabeth b 1841, William b 1842, Henry b 1845, Agnes b 1851, Julia b 1854. I believe that he is related to two other Mynheer families in the town: William b around 1786 in St Mawes (pos his father), retired coast guard, and his wife Mary b 1792, children: Eliza b 1822, Edward b 1823 (coast guard), Mary Ann b 1824, Sophia b 1828, Margery b 1831, Emily b 1832, George b 1835. John Mynheer, coastguard b 1821 Haisbro' Norfolk, wife Sophia (Poppy) whose children were William b 1847, Lucy b 1850, Thomas b 1853, Emily b 1859. Again, I'm sure they're closely related, but can't tie them up with any solid proof. I am interested in finding Henry's father and I believe it is the older William but can't yet prove it. Henry's marriage cert showed his father was William and a mariner. The Mynheer name was pronounced "maneer" and could have been spelt variously as Mineer, Minear, Maneer, Manear, Meneer etc and I suspect was originally Cornish - William Mynheer came from St Mawes, where there were many Minears etc around that area.
red mail Spaull
Looking for information on the Spaull family of Harwich from the late 1700s. I am descended from Robert Spaull, a mariner. His brother was Barnard Spaull, a cordwainer. I have found references in the Congregational registers to an older Robert having children around the time Robert must have been born - but not my Robert or Barnard. Barnard's age at death would put his birth around 1777. I am aware of a father and son both called William Spaull, but do not know how they are connected to my Spaulls. I have also found Spaulls in nearby Woodbridge and Ipswich, as well as more distant Costessey, Norfolk (including a Barnard Spaull there), but I have not been able to find the connections. Any help warmly welcomed!
