I have traced my dad's family back to the 1841 census when Jacob Cant was married to Emma Sullings and had John Cant aged 1 and Emma Cant aged 3 and were living with John Sullings and his wife Mary in Stoneham St in Coggeshall. I believe many of the family were Quakers but in spite of very good Coggeshall family history website can't find where Quakers were buried or any history before these dates - can anyone help? Judy

Hi I am trying to establish the parents of Samuel Hersom born in 1796 at Coggeshall he married Naoimi Wire in 1813 and some time after 1828 when Naomi died he married Louisa Harvey ( they appear on 1841 census as man and wife ). Louisa Harvey was born 1810 at Earls Colne Essex . Samuel Hersom died in 1857 in West Ham Essex and Louisa later died in 1884 also at West Ham. I have been unable to find any information regarding either of their parents in all the sites I have visited.As I live in the Midlands I am unable to get to record offices in Essex. If any one can give me any information what so ever on these two I would be most appreciative , particulary if I could find out who their parents were. Would be pleased to hear from any Chaplins living in the Coggeshall area. I am looking for information on Henry Chaplin, born 1841 and wife Eliza (maiden name Rose). They had a son Robert born 1873, Back Lane Coggeshall. Robert would have had a step-brother, Frank Edward Gomer born in 1870, died in 1959, and Alfred Gomer born 1866. Alfred died around 1908. Her last known address was Couval Bungalows Coggeshall. There were many children of Frank and Eliza, but half of them died young. In particular would anyone know of Frank Edward Gomer junior born 1901, or John William Gomer, or Ethel Grace Gomer.
