red mail David Blackie-Agnes Adamson-Isabella Blackie - (Humbie - East Lothian)
Hi All, I'm seeking information about my great-grandparents on my father's side - ISABELLA BLACKIE and JAMES BAIRD. I have their marriage certificate and both their death certificates, so have some information, but would love to know more. JAMES BAIRD was born August 31, 1834 in Muiravonside, Stirling, Scotland. His parents were WILLIAM BAIRD and JANET ALEXANDER. He travelled to New Zealand in about 1867, and married ISABELLA BLACKIE in Dunedin on September 16 1870. He died on 27 June 1917 in Dunedin aged 82 and is buried in the Southern Cemetery there. ISABELLA BLACKIE is believed to have been born February 11, 1839 in Humbie, East Lothian, Scotland. Her death certificate states that her parents were DAVID BLACKIE and AGNES ADAMSON. It is not known when she travelled to New Zealand but was obviously there for her marriage to James Baird. Isabella died in Dunedin aged 58 on June 16, 1898. From their death certificates, I gather that they had 4 children, one of whom was my grandmother JANET ALEXANDER BAIRD, who married LAUCHLAN BEAN BEATSON in Dunedin on August 16, 1911 in Dunedin. I believe the other children were named Agnes, William and James Blaikie Baird. I am particularly interested in ISABELLA'S antecedents - I can only find one David Blackie/Agnes Adamson marriage in IGI (November 6, 1835 in Humbie, East Lothian, Scotland), as well as a birth notice for ISABELLA noting the same Black/Adamson as the parents. I can't find any other information about DAVID BLACKIE or AGNES ADAMSON. I would also be interested in any information about the other children of Isabella and James. In hope, Jenny
