He retired from the army where he served in India and four of his children were born there. He married Mary Monica Shorney, of Mount Oswald Manor, in July 1914. I know Mount Oswald was the family home of Capt. John E Rogerson at the time, & he was a witness at their wedding in St.Godrics RC Chapel, Framwellgate, Durham.

Researching into the family of William Snowdon (died 11.03. 1800 Durham) and Elisabeth Grieveson (daughter of Robert Grieveson and Jane Ferry). They married 1769 (Witton Gilbert)and lived at a place called Durhammoor House(s) from 1784, from where they sold horses to a German Duke. A younger son John went to Germany around 1792. His siblings were Dorothy (*1769), William (*1774), Jane (*1176) and Robert(*1787). Unfortunately I cannot find anything on William Snowdon nor the place Durhammoor House. Any help hugely appreciated!

My ancestors, Richard Harris Dine and Mary Ann Dine (nee Walker) lived at Back Lane, Witton Gilbert in 1914 and Johnson's Terrace, Witton Gilbert in 1916. They had at least one child, a daughter, also called Mary Ann Dine (later Patterson). Mary Ann Dine (the elder) died in November 1949 and is buried in Cleethorpes.
