According to the 1901 Census Richard Benson, wife Martha (Johnstone) and their four children; Charles, Mildred, Thomas and Richard (grandfather)resided on James Armilafe St. Richard is the son of Charles Graydon Benson & Madby Ann (Hayton) Benson. Martha is the daughter of Charles Henderson Johnstone of Scotland and Elizabeth ?. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated as I have nothing after 1901.

Trying to go back a generation on a Robert Reay, shipwright b.1758 d.1815, who married an Ann BOOTH. Children from the marriage John b.1781, Robert b.1791, Hilton, Ann and Henry. Son John was a shipwright also, living at back of William Street, Southwick, Sunderland in 1841 census, with two childen Sarah and Joseph both aged 8. My family on my paternal side (Burlinsons) all lived in and around the Southwick Area (inc Southwick Road) from around 1900s and prob before. I've just started tracing my family tree but have only got so far as my supposed ggrandfather. I have been told that his name was Joseph. My grandad Sidney (still living) was a miner. His parents (maybe Joseph and Barbara) had 7 children (Sidney, Joseph, Charles, Frank, Arthur, Stanley, Doris). Parts of my family appear on the 1901 census, living at number 6. Hannah nee Goodings is seen living there with her husband James Mann originaly from Norfolk at the time they have seven children and Hannahs widowed mum Jane Goodings is living with them. My grandmother Jennie/Janet was born in 1885 and went into service and ended up in Cardiff.I am looking further back to James's forebears.
