red mail Greer family
Mary Elizabeth GREER was born on 6.11.1904 in 12 Charles Street, Hebburn, South Shields to Esther Greer (nee SNELL)aged 23 and William GREER aged 21, who had been maried on 5.11.1904 in South Shields. Esther was a widow whose maiden name had been CROUCH. She had been born in 1881 in Tennant Street, Hebburn. A Samuel Crouch and an Ellen Horne witnessed their marriage. William's father, Samuel is deceased as is Esther's father, Thomas Crouch. William is a ship rivetter apprentice. Esther had already had children Thomas and Emily by 1901 but in 1903 her first husband, Charles, died aged 23. There may also have been a son John. The earliest trace I have of Samuel Greer is in 1891, aged 40 and an iron driller boarding in Old Kilpatrick, Clydebank with a William (brother?) aged 23. There is no wife or children but in 1901 Samuel is living in Hebburn with 18 yr old William and 15 yr old John. Although William is listed as having been born in Ireland like Samuel, John is listed as having been born in Scotland and the name has been transcribed as Green. Mary had siblings, Theresa, Marcella and William all born between 1906 and 1911. At some point before 1925 the family moved to BIRKENHEAD and she married George Holliday. Do you know anything about the Greer family especially Mary's siblings. From census returns it would seem that Samuel Greer, Thomas Crouch and his wife Marcella (nee McKelpin) all came from Ireland, Thomas from Co Down but we do not know anything about Samuel's wife or any other family that William Greer had or what happened to Esther's children from her first marriage. We know nothing about the first husband Charles Snell other than that he was 19 when they married in October 1898 in St John's Parish, Hebburn. His father's name is given as Jesse Snell, a labourer. Esther was 16 at the time and their first child Thomas Alexander was born Jan-Mar 1899. Esther's husband William died in 1929, aged only 46, from Parkinson's disease. Occupation, ship rivetter. Esther was the informant. He died in St Catherine's hospital.

red mail Tew - Barras(s) 1796 Onwards ( ? 1780/81 ) New dates.
This last week,I added a message to the midlands area of Warwickshire,i.e. Shilton/Foleshill and Bulkington I am trying to find any of my Ancesters. My G.G.Grandparents are John Tew who married Catherine Barras, who's parents came from the South Shields area of County Durham, I did not know this at the time then a lady from Canada came forward and give me this information, I would like to know if in this area, there are any decendents still living there, I would very much appreciate if anyo ne can help. Since I entered this infomation, things have had to be altered, the dates for my G.G.Grandfather, John Tew, it now seems, for what ever reason, he was born much earlier, i.e. 1780/81. there is also a chance, that he, or one of his family may of originated from one of the outlying areas around Shilton/ Bulkington/Foleshill areas, bringing the family to that area, to put down their roots, the reason that I say this, is because there are a large number of Tew's in the Clifton -on - Dunsmore areas, which is not that far from the other areas that I have mentioned. If there is a possibility that there could be a connection, could you please get in touch.

red mail NEESON Family
Seeking descendants of Patrick Neeson and wife Margaret Neeson (both Irish born)who were resident at 50 Hardwick Street, Westoe in 1881 Census. With them them was son Charles Neeson born Scotland about 1858.Margaret's maiden name may have been Blue. The original name recorded may have been Naason. Patrick and Charles were still on 1901 Census for South Shields. I believe Charles may have been born at Craigmark Village, Dalmellington, Ayrshire. If so knowledge and contacts re this line would greatly help my Neeson search.
