I am researching the family of William Birkbeck Purvis who was born in Hetton-le-Hole, Durham circa 1866 to John Purvis and Susanna Birkbeck. John Purvis and Susanna Birkbeck married in October 1858 at Monkwearmouth, Durham. John Purvis was killed in a mining accident on the 9th August 1872 at the Seaham No. 1 pit. The family continued to live at Seaham after the accident. Susanna Purvis (Birkbeck) died at Seaham in March 1909. John Purvis was born circa 1833 in Hetton, Durham and Susanna Birkbeck was born circa 1837 in Philadelphia, Durham. Their son, William Birkbeck Purvis, married Jane Potts in New Seaham, Durham, in August 1889. William and Jane Potts had two children, William (born circa 1891/92 in New Seaham, Durham) and Susanna (born 27/10/1895, New Seaham, Durham). Both these children married at a double wedding on 3/9/1918 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and the next year migrated to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Any information regarding William Birkbeck Purvis' ancestors and siblings most appreciated.

Samuel McKee (born 1835 County Down, Ireland) married Elizabeth Summers in Monkwearmouth, County Durham Sept 1848. He worked as a coal miner, and in 1871 census the family is living on Caroline Street. Elizabeth Summers McKee died 1884. Samuel in 1891 living alone at 10 Front Street, Pittington. In 1901 living with daughter, Mary Wright in Hetton-le-Hole, but died in the Sept quarter of that year. Would like to find out more of Samuel's roots, and share info about his family.
