Stell/Glass Dunston/Warkworth
Searching the parents of James Stell born 1820 in Gateshead who later married Jane Glass and lived in Chester-le-Street. I know from the marriage certificate his father was also James Stell occupation Waterman. His wife Jane born Warkworth moved from Stannington to Chester-le-Street where I presume she met and married James Stell. I have some information that his mother was possibly Ann French. I found another birth with the mothers name as Margaret BUT fathers occupation Tin Man. Their first born child was called Ann BUT as Jane's mother is also called Ann this does not help BUT they did name a child Margaret.
Seymour, John Robert
I'm looking for information about John Robert Seymour who was born in 1870 somewhere in the south of England according to family sources. I have been unable to find a record of his birth at the GRO or any census details that fit him. I know that he married Margaret Roche (a widow, nee Riley) as a widower in 1916 in Gateshead and that they had five children. He died in 1955 aged 84. His occupation was given as "General Labourer" on his marriage certificate. I would like to know more about when and why he came to Gateshead and also to be able to pin down his place of birth. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

red mail Hunter
I am trying to gain more information about Roseby Hunter (1937-2004) of Gateshead, and in particular his father, Joseph Hunter (married to Martha Maddock in 1913). Joseph's marriage cert suggests a birth date of 1890/1, but other sources have suggested he may have been born 10 years earlier (dep on if it's the same Joseph Hunter of course!). His father was John and both were coal miners (Joseph described as a coal putter on the marriage cert). I am positive he died in Gateshead and lived his married life there with 12+ children. Apart from that: not a clue! A few possibilities via several sites for Joseph Hunters that fit some of the criteria....but nothing certain as yet! Paul

red mail Robert Wilson burial
The UKBMD records show my gggg-grandfather, Robert Wilson, was buried at St. Mary's Church, Gateshead, Feb. 16, 1795. He was a potter. I have no year of birth for him as the burial record does not give his age at death. His wife was Anne Wilson nee Marr who I believe was buried at Gateshead Apr. 18, 1845. She was born about 1764. According to the BMD Index her name at death was Anne Wilson but I have found a marriage for Ann Wilson and Thomas Rouny Dec. 10, 1798, Gateshead. There is a baptism for a Judith Rouney in 1801 that shows her mother's father was Edmund Marr. I am wondering if Ann was buried in the same place as her first husband. If anyone is ever roaming through St. Mary's Churchyard, I would be grateful if they would keep an eye open for the graves of Robert and Anne and let me know if, in fact, they were both buried there and what their dates of birth were.

red mail Carr family, Gateshead
My great grandfather was John Latham Carr, born in Gateshead in 1857. He moved to West Derby, Lancashire somewhere before 1879, where he married Emma White. It is likely that his parents were John Carr and Elizabeth Latham, who married in Newcastle in 1855. Because there are many people called John Carr around that time, can anyone shed any light on this particular John Carr, such as his parents (possibly John and Mary, but not certain) and/or his siblings? My granfather's middle name was Watson and I believe there was a female ancestor with the surname Watson, but in looking for her, I can only find a Mary Watson, who may have been married to a John Carr, but by my research so far, they would have had two sons both called John, neither of whom died in infancy!

red mail Jane Martha Simpson
My great-great grandmother Jane Martha Scott(Simpson) came from Gateshead Cumberland (1861 Census reference: RG09 Piece:301 Folio:73 Page:17). However the 1841 Census reference: RGHO107 Piece:2406 Folio:194 Page :17 from Gateshead, Durham She married my great-great grandfather Ridley Scott on March 23 1850 in Newcastle. The 1861 Census has her living in London Ridley Scott died August 17, 1866 The Letters of Administration list him as a widower. Therefore she must have died between 1861 and 1866. Curiously he left an estate of less than one hundred pounds to his uncle William Simpson of Newcastle even though he had children. William being the oldest at 15 I am trying to clear up the confusion over where she was born Durham or Cumberland Who were her parents, grandparents etc. I believe the 1841 census is correct. I believe from reviewing the Parish registers she was born in Gateshead Fell Durham in 1826 but I there is also a Jane Simpson born in Gateshead, Cumberland about the same time. I would also like to know what happened to her children. I know William Ridley came to Canada but when I do not know except it was prior to 1874 because he married my great grandmother Sarah Mitchell in Toronto Canada on November 20, 1874
