My great grandmother was Margaret Scott. Her fathers name is listed as William on her first marriage certificate when she married Joseph Monkhouse on 19 Nov 1859 in Carlisle, Cumberland at the age of 21. Unfortunately she lists her birthplace differently in different censuses. In the 1861 England census she is listed in Carlisle as wife of Robert Monkhouse, age 22, born in Scotland. In the 1871 England census she is listed in Haslingden, Lancashire, as wife of Thomas Hoyle, age 34, born in Cumberland Carlisle. In the 1881 census she is listed as Margaret Hoyle in Haslingden as a widow, head of household, age 40, born in Cumberland,Carlisle. In the 1891 census she is listed as Margaret Tattersall, wife of Thomas Tattersall, age 51, born in Scotland, Annan and with a daughter Margaret who is 5 years old. This is my grandmother! Margaret Scott dies 27 June 1897 at age 58 and is buried at the Chapelry of Haslingden.
