Warren/Godbore (Goabirth, Godby, Godbor, Godber)
I'm looking for info on my maternal family. My gt grandfather was Joseph Isaac Warren. Joseph was born in Balbriggan, along with his brother Edward Henry & 2 other brothers, Francis James & John George, were born in Hawick, Scotland. They were the children of Samuel Warren & Ada Godbore (also shown as Goabirth, Godby, Godbor & Godber) In 1897, their mother, Ada, re-married Thomas Brown, a miner, in Nottingham . I cannot trace Samuel Warren or find a death cert or their marriage cert. Scottish records state they married on 16 June 1878 in Balbriggan. If anyone has any info on Samuel or Ada, I would be grateful. In Ada's later marriage to Thomas Brown, she gives her father's name as Joseph Hickling, but the Scottish birth certficates give her maiden name as Godby or Godber & IGI shows Godbore. A recent search of Roman Catholic baptisms for Balbriggan showed an 'adult' baptism for Mary Joseph Ada (or Ida) Godbor & a later baptism for Joseph Warren, son of Samuel & Mary Joseph (of the right date for Joseph Isaac). One of his godparents is a Mary Goabirth & a baptism record for Edward Warren shows his mother as Ada Goabirth.Thanks.
red mail gt gt grandfather JOHN CARROLL
JOHN CARROLL lived at 43 Chapel Lane Balbriggan in 1901 he ran a lodging house. He was born in Meath. He married Catherine Keating born in Wexford. They married in Dublin 12 july 1850. They were RC's.He died in Balrothery Workhouse hospital in 1906 aged 77 years, according to his death certificate. She died in1914 in Balrothery Union hospital aged 80 according to her death certificate.I have been told that just because they died in the workhouse hospital that may have been the only hospital, so they need not have been inmates. There is a cemetery for the workhouse opposite in the middle of a farmers field. I would like to know where they are buried. I have found their sons {my gt grandfathers grave) he was William Carroll. I have been to Balbriggan but had no luck with finding them. Can you help me. Thanks.
