My ancestor, Robert ROY, (also called John) was born somewhere in County Down, Ireland, abt 1805. His death record lists the names of his parents as John and Margaret ROY. I know that he was first married to Sarah WALKER. Their children, Sarah A. ROY (b.abt 1840) and Robert John ROY (b.abt 1844), were born in Ireland. Father Robert and children immigrated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, around 1847. I haven't been able to find the family on a ship list as yet. My Great-Grandmother, Elizabeth J. ROY TENCATE, was listed as "born at sea" in 1847. I do not know if Sarah WALKER was her mother. In the 1850 US Census for Pittsburgh, Robert's wife was Margaret (maiden name unknown). In the 1860 census, it shows that another child, William, was born in 1852 in Pennsylvania. The ROY family may have been related to other families named WARREN. DOUGLASS, HILL, and WALLACE.
