Drumlee, Drumgooland, Newtownards, Drumawhy, County Dowan, Ireland
Names researching Cowan, McCutcheon, Crosbie, McIlwrick, McFarland These are my queries, if anyone has some spare time and can help with any useful information, I would be extremely grateful. My details are as follows:- My Great Great Grandfather was Thomas Cowan (Father was John Cowan) who married Margaret McCutcheon (her father was John McCutcheon) on 11 Nov 1847 at Newtownards County Down, Ireland. It would appear that Thomas was born approx 1827 Drumlee, Drumgooland, County Down Ireland, and Thomas Cowan died in Beith Ayrshire in 26 Mar 1908 and Margaret was born approx 1829 at Drumawhy, Newtownard, County Down, Ireland and died 21 Feb 1882 at New Stables Culzean, Kirkoswald. On Thomas's Death Certificate it states his parents were William Cowan and Agnes (nee Tingle) information was given by his son in law James Weir who had married Thomas Cowans daughter Sarah Cowan whereas her Marriage Certificate says his father was John (no mother shown on Certificates in 1847). The Parish Records for County Down shows that Thomas & Margaret Cowans first son was Robert Cowan who was born on 6 Nov 1849 at County Down Ireland and baptized on 11th Nov 1849 County Down. Robert Cowan was married firstly to Jane McKie on 2 Dec 1870 Dailly Scotland and had the following children Thomas Born 1871 Maybole, Elizabeth born 1 Oct 1872 Dailly, and Alexander 26 Oct 1874 Delmellington. Jane McKie died 1 March 1875 at Delmellington.
