red mail McKelvey/Orr
Hi, I am trying to research the origins of my g.g.grandfather William McKelvey who emigrated to Australia from Ireland in 1856. A brother of his, Joseph, also emigrated but I am not sure when. I previously inadvertently confused Joseph with a namesake and went off searching in the worng direction and I am hoping I am on track this time. I have the death certificates issued in Australia for both William and Joseph. At the time of Joseph's death (he pre-deceased William) they appear to have been both living in a place called Apollo Bay in Victoria, Australia. On Joseph's death certificate he is listed as having been born in County Down Ireland, and his parents listed as farmer John McKelvey and Ann formerly Orr, based on information probably provided by his brother William. On William's death certificate he is also listed as born in County Down, and his parents listed as farmer John & Ann Orr McKelvey (maiden name unknown). The discrepency with his mother may be because his children were not sure of the details given William named his youngest daughter Ann Orr McKelvey after his own mother. I was wondering if there is anyone out there related to, or who know of, John McKelvey and Ann Orr of Toye who might be able to provide further information that might comfirm or disprove a link to my McKelvey's.
