red mail Joseph Gregory circa. 1933
I have been unable to trace census records for my maternal 2x great grandfather Joseph Gregory earlier than 1861. From this time onwards he lived in St. Giles in the fields where he married Ellen McGuire in 1853. His marriage cert shows that his father was a labourer named Daniel Gregory. To-date the only possible record I have found for Joseph's birth is on the 'Family Search website' where the details are a very close match except that he was christened at Buckhorn Weston late 1832 ? Census data does indicate that he was born in St Giles but for many reasons ths may not be correct.
red mail Who did Harry BOWLES marry?
Am trying to find out who the first wife of Harry BOWLES (born Gillingham, Dorset) was. According to the 1861 census she was a Mary Ann ??? born Buckhorn Weston circa 1833. Harry was a widower in 1871 census but I haven't found Mary Ann's death yet. Youngest child that I know of was born c1855 so marraige probably around then or earlier. He remarried in 1874 (Regd Shaftesbury) to Elizabeth Jane COOMB(E)S.
