red mail Brownston - (Brownston - Devon)
We are a family of 'Brownstons' whose originate from the hamlet (?) of Brownston. Ownership of title passed to the sons of the family - and there were few of them. There were many daughters. My father - a Brownston and now aged 91, tells me that in the 18th century the family left Brownston and went to run cotton mills in Huddersfield. I can remember, as a child, visiting Brownston with my parents. My mother had to leave a note written in her lipstick to this family - who were out at the time we called. I would love to find out something of our ancestry. Does anyone know anything - or of the heraldry which goes with the name, I believe a chritian name of Earnest was used a lot. None of my family have ever come across another Brownston. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

red mail Fontes - Mrs M.). Froyle House, Chelston TQ - (Chelston - Devon)
I'm trying to trace the history of my car - a 2-seat RILEY tourer, number OD 1857. It was supplied new (March 1932) to Mrs M FONTES who, I now know, was a widow who lived at Froyle House in Chelston, Torquay, with her son Luis and daughter Ruth. In 1932 she may have been resident in Torquay for nearly 20 years. Luis became 21 in 1933 and, inheriting, left for Reading to take up motor racing. I do not know whether Ruth left at the same time, or whether Mrs Fontes (Maria?) also left Torquay then. In 1942 she seemed to be resident at the TORBAY RISE HOTEL. As this is in Burridge Road, this would have been very close to her old address at Froyle House. She may have died in London in or about 1951. Does anybody have any information on this lady? I'd like to know how long she kept the car and when and where she disposed of it. Any recollections would be nice to hear!

Lines to Edward 111, go through Fowell of Blackhall, Glanville of Kilworthy, Grymes of Buckland Monnachoram, Harris of Hayne and Cornwall, Greville of Warwick and Henry Neville of Latymer who marr. Joan Bourchier of Halstead. Henry Neville was a descendant of John of Gaunt and Joan Bouchier was a descendant of Thomas of Woodstock, both sons of Edward 111 and Phillipa of Hainault. Please note, the info sought is about Elizabeth Fowell and her brother John Fowell of Blackhall- any info.down to their descendants living today would be much appreciated, I am willing to share my info.

LUXTON / PEARSE - (Dowland - Devon)
Still trying to prove whether the John LUXTON m Elizabeth PEARSE 13-May-1779 and their children Mary, John and Wiiliam are the same family that appears in Topsham in 1799. A Mary (80), widow, is in 1841 Churchwardens Census of Topsham, and her parish is given as Dolton. The late entry made in 1842 states that she is dead. Elizabeth (90) was buried 28-Nov-1841.
