He might be the son of John Pady and Mary Restorick and born on 6th May 1767 OR the son of James Pady and Joan Clegg and born on 12th July 1766. Both these John Padys were born in Colyton. In 1911 a Col.Arthur Howard Tripp was living in Colyton in Devon he had retired from The King's Liverpool Regt. He had married on 1 December 1896 at St Mary Abbot's , Kensington, Maud Shalden-Smith, I know of three daughters Nina;Shaldina and Maud. Did they stay in Devonshire? Were any of the daughters married in Colyton? Does anyone, anywhere know anything of the Shalden-Smith family? Any help very much appreciated.

Isaac Abrahams (Abrams) and his son John, who was only 14 at the time, were involved in the Monmouth Rebellion in 1685. Neither were transported or executed. John returned to Colyton but I don't know what happened to Isaac. Has anyone come across this family?

Looking for information on William John Smith Besley born abt 1851 in Colyton or Seaton. He married Emily Dare Coles in 1870 in London. Look for any info/connection to Lock family from Colyton. John and Mary were still living there in 1841 - but they both passed before 1851. Their daughter married Anning but died a year after the marriage, their son William died young and their son John moved to Hackney, London - where he settled.

Thomas was my G.G.Grandfather. I want to trace his parents who would be my G.G.G.Grandparents. His wife was Susan (Swaine) b.1814 in Branscombe. Places they live in Colyton include, Hillhead Street 1841 Census, Sidmouth Street 1851 Census and Butts Street 1861 Census. It would seem that Thomas didn't move very far from the place where he was born, so the chances are that he passed away in Colyton as well.

I'm a descendant of John Mychell born 1410 of Rawkerhayne (Rockerhayne) near Colyton, Devon, England. My branch of the family moved to Ottery St Mary in the 17th century and resided there until the mid 19th when my ancestor moved to London. The family were originally yeoman farmers but took up the trade of butchers and fellmongers in Ottery, they also appear to have been religiously strong non-conformists . There are also photographs of Rawkerhayne farm house which is still in existance.
