red mail 3 Copperas, Ruabon
On the 1881 Census JAMES and MARGARET/MARGLIT (his wife) SHARPE born c1837 and c 1833 resp. are shown as living at the above address. Both their occupations are shown as "Zinc Spelter Furnaceman". Presumably they had left their home in Warrington in search of work, having left children aged 3, 6, 8, 12 and 16 in the care of the elder brother (JOHN) aged 20! Also living at 3 Copperas is ANN SAVAGE (Head, Widow and Grocer) and her daughter ELIZABETH ANN BOWEN aged 15, scholar. Does anyone have information on COPPERAS and would it have been common practice for parents to leave children like this to follow work?

I'm looking for information on my grandfathers family. His name Ernest Donald Jones born 23rd April 1915 in Ruabon, Wales he died in 1993 in Surrey. He married my grandmother Ruby Hilda Hartland in 1910. He had 2 brothers Cliff/Clifford and Ray, a sister possibly Alice known as Cissy. His mothers maiden name was Morris, her name could be either Rachel or Ruth, she died when he was about 9 of TB, his father was also possibly called Ernest, he died when my grandfather was 12 of a Coal Mining Back injury. I've managed to research my grandmothers family right back to 1700 but with my grandfather I cant get anywhere and sadly we dont have anyone in the family now who has the information. red mail Looking for a Grocer born 1853
FANNY was my wife's G. Grandmother born 1853 in RUABON. Alas I can't find her surname. She married WILLIAM SHARPLES from BOLTON before 1881 and then is shown as living in Bolton. So! Do you know of a lady who might fit the bill. Unfortunately there were quite a few William Sharples's who were married about that time in Bolton so finding the right one might be expensive in the long run

Whilst carrying out a search of NorthWalesBMD, looking at Wigley births, I came across Benjamin, registered in the Ruabon district. My 3 times great grandfather, b c1766, was also called Benjamin Wigley, and lived in the Mold district.
