red mail Thomas Jackson and Rachel nee Harris
Interested in Thomas Jackson, b Stanwix, 1773-1821+ and his wife Rachel nee Harris, 1781-1821+ of Allonby, and their descendants in Burgh by Sands, Bowness, Winlaton and Elswick.
red mail Boustead/Bowstead
James Bowstead or Boustead, born c1784 in Stanwix. Had daughter Elizabeth born c1826 in Caldbeck and son William born c1829 in Cumberland. He was an agricultural labourer so moved around northern counties. Daughter Elizabeth married William Temple in Morpeth, Northumberland in 1851. James died in Morpeth area 1853.
red mail Carruthers - horse dealer
I'm looking for more information on John Carruthers of Stanwix, born around 1776, and listed as blacksmith on 1841 census. Probably something to do with the horse-dealing and innkeeping in Stanwix.
red mail relative?
William Linton married to Mary. His funeral was March 16th 1888 at Westminster Abbey. Mary died August 10th 1920, buried in Stanwix Cemetary.
I am interested in Ann Towns from Stanwix (1861 census) who married Joseph Jordan some time before 1832 and lived in Penrith. She had a short-lived son Joseph 25/5/1838. Was she daughter of John Towns (1776) son of Thomas Towns (1756), son of John Towns (c1716), all of Stanwix, as given by IGI?
Robert Hewitt and Margaret Nichol
Robert Hewitt, possibly a cabinetmaker/joiner, married Margaret Nichol at Stanwix on 16th February, 1830. Their son James Nichol Hewitt (my great great grandfather) was christened at Stanwix on 23rd May, 1830. Am seeking Robert and Margaret's antecedents (Margaret's father possibly a Stanwix farmer called James Nichol).
red mail Coombes
I am interested in the family of the Rev Edwin Coombes whose second marriage to Charlotte Elizabeth White took place at St Peters, Parkstone in 1876, and subsequently lived at the Parsonage, Canford Magna, Dorset. His eldest son, Herbert Edwin Henshaw Coombes (also became a clergyman) married Alice Jessie Clay and moved to the Vicarage, Houghton, near Stanwix, Cumberland. HerbertÕs sisters Harriet Agnes and Louisa, joined them in Houghton (1901 census). HerbertÕs brother, Theodore Robert wasmarried to Jessie and was living in Beeston Regis, Norfolk (1901 census), but nothing known about his other brother Reginald, or sister Gertrude Elizabeth. Does anyone know any more?
