Ferguson, Carlisle
I have a confusing family of Fergusons in Carlisle - James b.1788, wife Eleanor b.1798, children including John, b.1828, Joseph b.1836 and Mary b.1834 approx. In 1851 and 1861 they were living in Botchergate but it's not clear whether the same James Ferguson was farming at Nichol Forest by 1871. Any info appreciated.
Foster, Carlisle
George Foster was born c.1830 and, in 1851, lived with his widowed mother Alice b. c.1809 in Durham in Caldewgate. Also there were siblings Elizabeth b.1845 and Thomas b.1835. Any way of getting this family back further e.g. who was George's dad?
John b. 1783 & son Jenkin Chadwick b.1817 both born Carlisle. Weavers/farmers/shopkeepers. Later connection with Manchester. Any info on ISABELLA LIDDLE of Burgh by Sands.
Would like any information on Straiton or Graham in the Carlisle area mid to late 1800's. Robert Straiton married Jane Graham. Robert and two of his sons worked on the railways. Robert was born in Scotland and his fathers name was John.
