Am looking for any information aviable on the family of my grandmother. She was born feb 19,1881 at st.blazey gate. her mother was caroline hambly, her fathers last name was tibbett, know nothing else about him. She married william langsford who died in 1905. She had one son, possibly two who also died. the one boy that we know of for sure was burried at st. mary's parish church, biscovey. She came to Canada in 1905 where she met and married my grandfather thomas strubley harris.

I am descended from Nicholas Key who married Eleanor Michell in Gwennap 25/06/1794. Eleanor was said to be from Redruth and Nicholas was recorded as a 'sojournor' (I think he may have been a blacksmith). However, there is a record of an Eleanor Michell being baptised in Gwennap on 13/06/1774. Nicholas and Eleanor had 3 children: Eleanor, Joseph and John born in Gwennap between 1795 and 1798. I am descended from Joseph who married Sally Brokenshire in St Wenn 22/10/1821. The family later moved to St Just in Penwith in the 1830s where they stayed until the 1880's when my part of the family moved to Brotton, Yorks. I am happy to share more information with anyone who is interested.

Most of our family are miners by trade. John Reynolds of Cornwall born 1820 marries Elizabeth Mitchell in 1843 and they have a daughter born in 1844 Elizabeth Jane Reynolds who in 1868 marries THOMAS HENRY CHIVELL in MEXICO when THOMAS and her father are mining silver 50 miles north of Mexico city. In 1870 Elizabeth Reynolds 47 lives in Grass Valley, Ca. with daughters Maria 13, Cathrine 6, and Annie 4. Later in 1880 John Reynolds lives as a widow in Butte Co. near Nelson Ca. with two of his daughters living with him...Annie and Kate. Next farm over his son-in law THOMAS HENRY CHIVELL born 1844 in St. Day or St. Agnes is the son of William and Mary Snell. Living with Thomas is his wife Elizabeth Reynolds Chivell born 1844 and her sister Minnie Reynolds. Their children Jane 12, Elizabeth 8, Johnny 5, Margaret 2,not all the children were born to the Chivell's in 1880, three more were born before March of 1892. In 1892 five of the 7 children die of diphtheria in March of that year. Two daughters survive and one Lydia married Alonzo H. Reager in July of 1899 in Nelson. Kate Reynolds marries Neil McKillop in 1886 in Nelson. In 1896 John Reynolds dies in Butte at 76. after the death of the 5 children and marriage of daughter Lydia, Thomas H. goes to Australia to regain his wealth. Elizabeth Jane Chivell takes her other remaining daughter Margaret back to England and in 1901 is living with her mother-in law Mary Snell. Living in the same household is a school master Hugh Jory who later marries Margaret Chivell. In 1904 Thomas is back from Australia and returns TO CA. for a visit with Elizabeth and in 1908 she returns again alone and Thomas is dead in 1911, he is buried in the family plot at the OLD church with no roof in St. Day. Does any of this connect to your family?

Nancy Ham Letcher was born here in 1809. Daughter of Thomas Letcher and Betsey Ham. She married John Collins here on 5th June 1830. The family moved to Cardigan in 1849 where John was employed in the Frongoch Lead & Zinc Mine as an Agent. Later he became a Wesleyan Preacher as well. He died in Llanfihangel Lower in 1869. Nancy died in Aberystwyth in 1888.

Can anyone please confirm if Maria BROWN bc 1818 at St Domonic who is married to Edward BROWN of St Ive was born a CLARKE the daughter of William CLARKE and Elizabeth nee BAWDEN. Edward & Maria Brown had children Jonathon, Emma, Henry, Mary M and Eliza Jane between about 1845 and 1858. They lived at the Cross and at Woodcockseye in the censuses. Edward died 11 December 1884 and at this time his son Jonathan was living at 126 Alexander Road, Ford near Devonport. I think Maria died in 1893. Elizabeth BAWDEN is also supposed to be from St Ive born about 1897. Please contact me if you have a connection to this family.

Seeking forbears of Richard NEWMAN and Phyllis PHILLIPS, married St Marys, Isles of Scilly, April 1799. A group of descendant cousins in Australia has tracked many of their descendants but wonder where he came from? On St Marys there is Newman Point, Newman House, Newman Rocks and Newman Battery. But no record of why they were named. Richard and many of his sons and grandsons were master mariners and travelled across the world, some settling in Australia, Mauritius. When he retired from the sea he established a Naval & Commercial Academy in Swansea, Wales in 1837 until his death in 1849. His wife Phyllis was born at St Marys but there is no record that he husband did.

According to Burkes peerage she had a relationship with Edward Lamar which may have resulted in another child Hester Larmar. The two girls appear to have married brothers, William & Samuel Davies. The children of the unions appear to have married ! Can someone untangle the relationships between Hester, Hunphrey and Edward, please !

In 1841 census he was Alfred aged 5 and living with a family called Wakeham in St Stephens in Brannel. In 2 later census he uses the name of Almond Walkom. He married Elizabeth Martyn using the name Alfred Johns. His son William Henry Johns was my great grand father who was known as Wakeham Johns. This was thought to have been a nickname but may well indicate that the family continued to use 2 names. Regards Sylvia

Mary Bruce Drummond's parents were James Drummond and Janet Cairns, no details available. Some descendants of these married into the Gay family from in and around Bonhill, Dumbartonshire, Scotland, about whom I am also seeking information.

Unfortunately, no arms are depicted with this pedigree. I know there are lots of Jopes still living in the area - I am interested only in the 17th century - according to the heralds he married Mary Glanville - whose brother was MP for Liskeard in 1614.
