Stephens Family Penryn
My Great Grandfather was William Kent Stephens born in South Africa. His parents came from Penryn - I was told they were Richard and Mary although I think these may be his grandparents as I have managed to find a William Kent Stephens who was born to a Richard and Mary in Budock Cornwall. (There was also talk of a James and Marianne)(There was also talk of a sister Maria and that the mother had Sophia as one of her names) I am researching the generations before him and any other information about why they may have gone to South Africa.

I am researching Francis Treloar who was born 16 April 1823. I don't think the father was married to the young lady with the surname Bunny. Francis came to Australia, found gold and married Sarah Biggs and did well for himself. He was born and lived at Penryn, Cornwall His parents died when he was very young and he lived with Mr. Symons. Like to know more about Penryn,I do have a photo of the narrow hilly cobbled streets. Trying to find out if his mother was related to a Thomas Bunny/Bunney who came over in 1848 on the same ship as Francis. Hope you can help

I am looking for any Rosman and various spellings of this surname including Rosomond, Rosamond, and Rossman etc, from Cornwall. My great great grandfather was Edwin Joseph Rosman born in St. Gluvius, Penryn in September of 1824. His parents were Edward Rosman and Martha (nee`Bant) and living in many villages in western Cornwall and had a number of children. Edwin J. Rosman`s mother was Martha Bant and her parents were Mathew Bant and Jane Kemp of Falmouth. Edwin J. Rosman came to British Columba, Canada in about 1854 or earlier. Edwin`s father; Edward Rosman was an accountant and one of his clients was Henry Pering Pellow Crease. Edward Rosman never left Cornwall, England and so he wrote to Henry Pering Pellow Crease who also moved to British Columbia, Canada, and I have copies of their correspondence which has some family information on the Rosman`s. I am looking for any other family from the Rosman, Kemp and Bant families.

I am looking for any imformation about the CHILDREN OF JOHN SMITH TANNER who was born in Penryn and baptised at St Gluvius in 1781. His wife was Elizabeth (nee Jose) also from Penryn. They were married at St Gluvius in 1803, normally newly weds start a family straight away, but I can only find three childrens' birth records some 13 years after marriage; Joseph Jose b.1816, Richard Hurd b.1817 and William b.1818. John Smith Tanner's father was also called John and was born in Beckley Sussex, he came to be in Penryn as a soldier.

I'm looking for information about my husband's family who originated in Frankfort, Germany, but came to the UK in early 1840s. He was Philip Michel (later became anglicised to Mitchell) born c1819, as was his wife Margaret. They lived in St Gluvias, Penryn and whilst their first two children were born in Germany, & their third child Catherine was baptised in 1843 in Bristol, the remaining 5 children were all born & baptised in St Gluvias, Penryn. Their daughter Alice, bap 26 May 1848 had a base born son, William Thomas John Mitchell, born 29 Sep 1866, but he was 'adopted' by his grandparents at two, and was baptised on 5 Feb 1869. I know about his marriage and descendants, but don't have much information about what happened to Alice nor much about the lives of her siblings: Anna, 1838, Germany; George 1840, Germany; Elizabeth, 1845, St Austell; Thomas Henry, 1853; Mary Jane 1857; Emily 1860. I know that Catherine (bp 1843 Bristol) married Richard Abraham and that her father Philip was variously a ships carpenter; a chandler, and a rag & bone merchant. Any information on the family and their German origins would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for information on William REYNOLDS married Elisabeth NICHOLAS, St Gluvias Dec 19 1809. They don't appear in 1841 census in Penryn so can't deduce their ages. As I live in Australia, any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am looking for information about a THOMAS RUSSELL, born c1809 in Penryn. I believe his wife was called AMELIA ANNE, but I have found no details of the marriage or her maiden name. There are details of the christening of a PRISCILLA ANNE RUSSELL, on 29th April 1832 in Budock, Cornwall, with Parents, Thomas and Amelia Russell. The 1851 census shows, a THOMAS and ANNIE RUSSELL in Pancras, London, with daughter Priscilla age 20, which is about right, and JOHN RUSSELL, their son, age 16, Wood Carver. John is my gggrandfather. Other children are, Amelia, born Middx, age 8; Thomas age 12 born Cornwall; Eliza age 14 born Cornwall. Any help with taking this family further back, or locating any info about them would be good.
