red mail Gilly farm, Gwennap
Several of my family (Dower and Williams for example) are described as having been born at or living at Gilly farm. Can anyone explain what this meant in the 18th and 19th centuries? I visited Gilly Farm a few years back and found it a vast area with several stone farmhouses some more important looking than others. They looked as if they ahd been there a long time. Did small families live scattered across the farm and work as agricultural labourers there perhaps? Would be grateful for any information. With thanks Donna
