Carrington family DNA - (Carrington - Cheshire)
I am investigating the surname Bramhill, and the name is believed to be from Bramall Hall, Stockport. So how is this connected to the village of Carrington? Well, I had a DNA test at Christmas. To my amazement, four of my top ten matches are Carringtons, with an MRCA (most recent common ancestor) of about 1300. I'm talking to Carringtons in the US and our theory is that two brothers have been given a role in the manors of Bramall and Carrington, and they have then taken the place names as their surnames. Happy to swap DNA information.
