red mail Seeking help on William Whitfield of Cheshire
I am after help with a William Whitfield, born, 16th February, 1786 Rostherne, Cheshire, England. My research initially had William born in Shelton, Staffordshire in 1787, information from various censuses and no hard proof available this was correct. After further research, I have found the William from Rostherne above who may well be the relative I am looking for. I have birth records for William from Cheshire and a family, where as I had nothing for William from Staffordshire, not even parents. Rostherne is only 35 mile from Stoke on Trent, where William, his wife Ann and all his family lived and where he finally buried on 27th December, 1867, Hartshill, Stoke upon Trent. I did receive some very helpful guidance that lead me to Cheshire, I am now asking if anybody has any further information that may help prove William for Cheshire is my relative, it would be very much appreciated. Regards Colin

Stoddard's in Mere, Rostherne or Chelford
Hi, I have been researching my family history now for about 6 years and have come to a dead end in respect of not being able go to the birthplace of my ancestors because I am disabled. I am interested in finding any information about Joseph Stoddard who I think was born in Mere, Cheshire. I don't know what year he was born but his son James was born in 1808. On James Stoddard's marriage certificate to Mary Snelson in February 1838, Joseph's profession is stated as Stonemason and living in Chelford. I also think he may be buried in Rostherne Cemetary. If anyone can find any information on this person I would be truly grateful. Thankyou Lisa x
