red mail Hockenhull, Perrin, and Vernon
Is anyone else researching the Nantwich Hockenhulls? I have a marriage of Joseph Hockenhull to Jane VERNON, in Whitmore, Staffordshire in 1788. The first child I have found of the union was baptised in the 1790s, in Haslington, Cheshire. By 1802,the family was in Nantwich, where Rhoda, Richard, & Mary Ann, were baptised respectively: 1802, 1805, 1807. In 1802, Joseph was an 'innholder', but a 'labourer' by 1807. He may have been baptised in Wistaston in 1767, his parents being another Joseph Hockenhull (baptised c. 1744) & his wife, Sarah Perrin, daughter of Robert Perrin, also of Wisataston. There is a baptism (I.G.I.s) in 1772, of a Jane Vernon daughter of George Vernon & Ann at Whitegate, Over, Cheshire. Whitmore, and Over were, I believe, salt mining areas, so the family might have moved about for work, or been moved about by their employer. Any help will be acknowledged.

red mail JONES, Roberts, Barnes.
George Jones, b. Chester c.1811, married c.1835 Alice Barnes, b. Warrington c.1808 and had children all born in Witton or Nantwich - Richard, George, Martha, Sarah and Charles Albin,my gt-grandfather, b. Jan 1844. George senior was a decorator, but it may be that Charles Albin became a photographer in Nantwich, because after moving to Hull, East Yorks, he had a son Charles who was my grandfather and a photographer there. Family lore has it that there was some connection with the surname ROBERTS. It is possible that C.A.Jones traded as C.A.J.Roberts, so he may have had a portrait-photographer's business in either surname whilst in Nantwich. Has anyone any information please ?
