red mail VALLANCE bAGENALLSTOWN COMERFORD LEIGHLINBRIDGE - (Bagenalstown, Muine Bheag, - County Carlow)
Please, I'm desperate...does this ring a bell with anyone or could they ask anyone who might remember? My mother MARY VALLANCE, born 1937 in England, lived in Bagenallstown from about the age of 10 to about the age of 18 with her adoptive parents ALBERT & LILIAN VALLANCE (Lilian was related to the COMERFORD family of LEIGHLINBRIDGE) Mary became pregnant by a groom, they didn't marry. She would have given birth between 1950-1957, though it is more likely that it was 1955-57 and the baby was taken from her immediately, as so often happened with unmarried mothers in Ireland. I don't know the groom's name or the name of the baby, or even if it was a boy or a girl. Also, I'm looking for information on my great grandmother: KATE AGNES COMERFORD (Katie, Catherine or Katherine). She was Lllian's mother & she was born in LEIGHLINBRIDGE abt 1873. Her father was JOHN COMERFORD, a farmer. I know that she went to Wenhaston, Suffolk, & married HARRY OLIVER SNOWLING in 1891, & then lived in India. I would really appreciate any information about any relatives past or present of hers in Leighlinbridge.

Her brother Walter (b. c1853, Dublin) also emigrated in 1874. John DWYER and Margaret Bridget O'NEIL married in Tipperary c1851 and emigrated to Aust c1855. I believe all of their 10 children were born in Aust. John's parents were Mathew DWYER and Margaret RYAN. I would love to hear from anyone who has these people in their trees.

red mail Sutton and Aughney - (Ballon, Balana - County Carlow)
John Sutton and Mary Aughney had as far as I know 8 children. Elizabeth b.1834, Joanne b.1836, Mary b.1838,and Bridget b.1840 were all born in Carrickslaney. All eight children were baptised in the church at Ballon or Ballo as it (I believe) was known then. I am particulary interested in Michael Sutton who followed his brother James to Liverpool, England, in July 1865 aged just 18yrs. He then enlisted in the Army for a 21yrs service. Hi, I don’t know if you can help me but I am looking for a lady by the name of Mary who’s maiden name would have been O’Connor. I don’t have a married name. Her brother Patrick O’Connor lived in Darwin Australia until he passed away last December (I believe). He was 89 at the time. Mary would probably be in her 80”s I think. I remember Uncle Pat mentioning that Mary had two children I think. Patrick O'Connor was born on the 6/11/1917. Mary is supposed to live in Clonmullen, Edenderry. Patrick O’Conner was a great friend of my father James Ryan who also lived in Darwin for a time, which is where they met. I would love to hear from Mary or her family as I have photos of her brother Patrick that they might like copies of. I have been looking for Patrick O’Connor for some years and only just found him although sadly a little too late. We called Patrick ‘Uncle Pat’ and he was a very special part of our family here in Australia. If you can offer any assistance I would greatly appreciate it. Many thanks and I hope all is well in Edenderry. Kathleen
