red mail Captain Edward Hall
His dates were 1825-1901 According to the museum in Aberystwyth: "This collection of curiosities belonged to Captain Edward Hall (1827-1901) of Aberystwyth. His sea voyages around the world led to his collecting shells, coral, beads and other exotic and unusual mementoes. The pots, covered in stamps, were made by his three children. The Captain sent letters to them from all over the world and so they used the stamps to decorate these items. Captain Hall, from Custom House Street, Aberystwyth is known to have traveled around the world three times in a barque named Robert Hine." We know his dates, his wife and his children, and are fairly sure that his mother was a Sarah Hall, born Aberystwyth, and that he was born in London because she was unmarried. BUT apart from family belief that the Halls originated in Clackmannan, Scotland, we are in the dark. Anyone with any info, it would be most welcome. His wife was a Margaret Jenkins (c.1838-1899), from a family of Smiths and Chainmakers probably from Penmaesglas Road. Cheers, Leonie
