My great grandfather Hugh Young married Elizabeth Manson in Edinburgh in 1882. Her father James Manson was already dead . I believe her great grandparents were James Manson and Eliza Rugg of Caithness. They were married at Olrig Caithnessin 1782. Is anyone else researching these names in the Thurso area ?

Looking for details of Alchersone/Alsherson/ Alexander and Bremner families from Caithness, particularly those with links to Watten, Thurso and Keiss. My 3Xgt grandfather was married as David Alchersone to Elizabeth Bremner in Canisbay Kirk in 1849, both are buried at Keiss Cemetery under the surname Alexander. Their son Andrew Bremner Alexander emmigrated to Australia around 1880 and settled in Balmain NSW with his wife Elizabeth McWhirter of Colmonell Ayr who he married in Edinburgh in 1880.

John Mackay married Ann Thomson at Dunnet July 31st 1854. She was a widow previously married to William Brotchie who probably died at sea. John and Ann had several children - Anne, Erskine,Donald, Barbara, and my great grandfather John. Both parents died as paupers at Ratter and are buried in Dunnet churchyard. I would be glad to hear from any other descendants.
