red mail Colnbrook, Bridge Street
Hello, I am searching for information about Woodbridge's of Colnbrook. My Grandmother has it on her birth cert' that she was born at Bridge St. Colnbrook in 1915. I know her Mother was unmarried and may have been unable to care for her so could have sent her or given her away. My Gr. Grandmother lived in Ealing but her Father owned a tailor's shop in Bridge St. I am told. Any information would be really helpful as I am hitting a brick wall in my search. Thank you.
Hi, my grandparents William Charles Swadling and Caroline Louisa Piggott were living here in 1930, with their two daughters, Grace (aged 7) and Betty (aged 2). Sadly they had a third daughter, Gwendoline, who died at just 2 hours old. I wondered if anyone knew where Gwendoline may be buried? Also, I'm guessing that Ostrich Cottage is now part of the Ostrich pub, would anyone know which bit, please? Finally would anyone have any idea why my grandparents moved to Colnbrook - they were in Slough in 1928, and back there in 1932. My granddad did work on roads at one point, I wondered if he could have got a job on the Colnbrook Bypass? Any information would be very much appreciated, thanks, Jan.

William Henry and Mary Jones's children were Mary Ann Jones born 1846, William Jones(my great grandfather) born 1849, this was the entry for the 1851 Census. For the 1861 Census Langley Marish Bucks Foli0 63 Pg 5 Schedule 29, William Henry(now calling himself William)aged 48 years Haybinder born Ealing and his wife Mary Jones aged 38 years born Datchet Bucks were living at The High Street Colnbrook with their children Mary Ann aged 15 years, James Jones aged 9 years, Edward Jones aged 7 years, Elizabeth Jones aged 5, Charles Jones aged 4, Emma Jones aged 2 and Henry Jones aged 3 months, this was the Census for 1861. They added to their family Emily Frances who was born 1864, all the children were born Colnbrook. My Great Grandfather William was 12 years in 1861 and because he was not listed on the Census may well have been working away from home, perhaps apprenticed to someone, however I have found my Great Grandfather William on the 1881 Census living at Battersea, also for the 1891 and 1901 Census he and his wife Mary Elizabeth(nee Dunham) and some of their children were still living with them and working in the family business.
