red mail Joseph & Mary Ann WEEDEN 1838
Not sure yet if the marriage of JW to Mary Ann LUSCOMBE between April-June, 1838 in Amersham is my relative. I know that JW married a Mary Ann X but we've been unable to find out her maiden name. This is a good possibility. According to the 1851 census both were born in Windsor, Berkshire and about 1811/12. They immediately moved to Westminster after their wedding (or perhaps were married there). My questions - was the Mary Ann LUSCOMBE above born in that town? Are their Luscombe parents living there in the 1841 census? Anything more to be found out from that marriage -who the parents were?...need a bit of a miracle to find out but people on CF have produced a few of those so far and so I dare to ask.

Joseph emigrated to New South Wales. When John and William II died in 1843 the brewery passed to John's son Edward (1790-1850) and William's son William III (1797-1859), then to William's sons William IV (1840-1908), Edward (1843-1890) and George (1844-1929.) They owned about 120 public houses and supplied others, becoming the principal employer in Amersham. The business was sold to Benskin's Brewery following George's death in 1929. I have further details of brewery, and also of Weller family back to 1542.
