red mail Pirie, Henderson and Sheffield Families
I am researching these families in this village in the period 1770-1810. Ann Pirie was the daughter of Ann Sheffield who was a housekeeper at the nearby Paxton House manor of the Home family before 1802. AP married George Henderson in 1802 - they both may have been estate workers living in the Pinkie Cottages in another local manor house called Manderston near Duns also understood to have been associated with the Home family.
Thompson, tenant of Cannybank
Just recently found a marriage certificate of Thomas Thompson, whose father was Matthew Thompson & mother Dorothy nee Steele. Have now received a BDM certificate showing Matthew & Dorothy as having 3 sons, Matthew b 1831, Thomas b 1833 & William b 1834. Each entry had Matthew senior as being a 'tenant of Cannybank'. Parish is Hutton. County of Berwick. I would be extremely grateful if anyone had information about anything regarding this. I am the Great,Great,Great Grandson of Matthew & Dorothy. Thank you Michael
