Ann(e) Hunt b 1849 Houghton Regis
Looking for info on Ann(e) Hunt, born in Houghton Regis in 1849 - I have Census info for 1851 and 1861 but can't find her in 1871. I believe she had two children (Lucy and Francis) in 1872, and 1875 respectively, with no named father on either birth certificate - so she may have been with him at the time, as the first birth is exactly 12 months after the census. It looks like she then married a George Bleaney in 1876 and had more children. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
red mail Chalk Hill Farm (Chalk Hill was also known as Puddle Hill)
The farm is just off the A5 north of Dunstable as it goes down towards the A5/A505 roundabout. I'm seeking any info about the farm and/or its owners and/or occupiers. I have a number of Scroggs going back to the 1700's and an Arnold Bunker in the 1920's but would welcome all other info about the farm and its residents. Thanks in advance for your help
red mail William Riddy - 1847 to c1920
I would like to hear from anyone either related to Mr Riddy or with knowledge of the family. In 1911, William Riddy was living in the School House, Houghton Regis with his wife, Elizabeth. He was 64 years old and was a tailor. He had two lodgers, who were ancestral relations of mine. I would particularly like to know if he was still at the School House in the 1920s and if he had a cousin, possibly called Jonas Sharp, who was in the straw hat trade in Luton.
red mail John Whiting - c1860 to 1930?
John, age 11, appears in the household of his father, Jeremiah, and Jeremiah's second wife, Harriet (Richardson), on the 1871 Houghton Regis census. John is listed as born in London. In the 1861 Census, Jeremiah was living with his father, Joseph (see separate entry) as a Widower. I would like to know who John's mother was and whether he has any descendants.
My grandmother lived in this area, Frances Elizabeth Dair Welsh, when she came back to Canada in 1919 , she had a 2 year old along with her, the childs name was Joyce Emmie Welsh, since then we have learned her name was Joyce Eunice Welsh, we think that she may have been adopted , my question to you is how do I go about finding her birth certificate, I have her date of birth and the adopted parents names, I am in contact with Joyce's son, who if necessary could request this information. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Kathy
red mail George Tompkins
Looking for info about 'George Tompkins' who witnessed my Grandfathers marriage in 1916 at Houghton Regis Parish Church
red mail Flecknells of Luton/Houghton Regis
I'm looking for details of the Flecknells, who worked in the hat industry around Luton. I believe they came from Germany in the 1700s but am unsure what the family name was before it was anglicised. James Flecknell (1813-1893) married Mary Facer in Houghton Regis in 1834 and their son, Eli, married Sarah Innes in 1866.
red mail Turvey And Lancaster Families
James Turvey married Mary Lancaster in Houghton Regis on 22 October 1835. One of their children was William ,who married Ann Robins. We would be interested to hear if anyone else is researching these families.
