My great grandfather, Peter Donnelly was born to Patrick Donnelly and Bridget Lenaghan, Sep 9 1870. Records show that other children were Mary (1863), Bridget (1867) and twins Margaret and Patrick (1873). Peter married Maggie McArdle in 1901. All of these records were verified at St. Patrick's RC in Crossmaglen. I cannot, however, find any record of Patrick Donnelly, father to Peter. The closest record of marriage is to an ANN Lenaghan in 1862 with James Craige and Owen McCann as witnesses, which was also given as a record from St. Patrick's RC, Crossmaglen. With alot of family in the area, wouldn't they be witnesses to a marriage? Why would the name ANN be used if her name was Bridget? Any help would be appreciated.
