red mail Bucahans on Lismore - (Port Ramsay - Argyllshire)
I'm trying to trace my 2 x great grandmother Margaret Buchanan who married a William Henderson. Family tales say that she came from Lismore. Their son Richard was born in 1845. I have found a family in the 1851 census on Lismore which seems to be them. William was a blacksmith at that time & they are shown at Baligare? (not sure if this is correct spelling). Does anyone know anything about Margaret & her parents please. My mother was named after her & was told that if she went to Lismore and said she was called Margaret Buchanan Henderson she would be carried shoulder high. Possibly a fairy story, but other family tales have been proved to be correct.
