red mail Dick and Robertson families
My 3rd great grandparents were David Dick and Martha Robertson. They were married in Angus Dundee parish #282 on May 3, 1823. Martha is listed in the marriage record as the daughter of the late Robert Robertson, weaver. David is also listed as a weaver. I do not know the names of the parents of David. Both David and Martha were born around 1801/1802. I have an 1841 census record for David and Martha that lists their birth years as 1802. The surname Dick has been transcribed as Deck, but all the other information is correct including the names of their children and their birth dates. David is listed as a weaver living on Dudhope Crescent. David and Martha and 4 children emigrated to Canada about 1844, first to Toronto and then to Scott Township about 40 miles north and east of Toronto. Their children were David, Daniel, Martha, and Peter, who was born after the 1841 census. They had 5 other children who died before 1844. The oldest two, Thomas and James are buried in Howff cemetery. If anyone else has information about the Dick or Robertson families I would be interested.

red mail Dundee, Angus/Yeovil, Somerset
Adams family, Glovers, who originated from Somerset. At present I can trace back to Richard Adams who was born in 1738. His grandson George Smith Adams married Sarah Crabb. George with his family moved to Dundee. George was a glove cutter and older brother of Henry Adams Glover of the High St in Dundee. George and Sarah's youngest daughter Isabella Adams married George Kennedy who was a tailor in Dundee in 1869. Their youngest son Albert Adams Kennedy who died in 1947 was an engineer in the shipyard, the family lived in Roseangle then Rennell Rd Dundee. During the 1st world war Albert returned from Boston USA to join up however his was a reserved occupation and he returned to work in the Caledon Yard. My family are all descendants of Albert and Georgina nee McKay but we have no knowledge of Albert's other siblings' descendants ,Albert's youngest sister was Annie she and her husband had 2 daughters both unmarried who I remember with affection from visiting in Tayport in Fife. Their surname was Rumgnay There was talk in the family of Uncle Harry an older brother who had lived in the USA. I think he married and had family. As a family we have no early photographs, the oldest being we think the engagement photo of Albert and Georgina in 1912 then subsequent wedding photo in 1916 It would be wonderful to find out if there were others with information and perhaps photos of our shared ancestors.

I have had no luck tracing the family back before his time. I suspect his father was a David and his mother an Ellen or a Helen, possibly surnamed Pullar- this is only a hunch. There was talk of a younger brother, John, a ship's captain, who fled the country after accidentally throwing a man overboard in a rage. Later (1850s) the family changed their surname to Stewart, however, David's wife Isabella, was as Stewart, from Alyth, Perthshire.
