red mail Forrest, Murker, Duguid - (Belhelvie - Aberdeenshire)
According to parish records, George Duguid had a son, Patrick, who was christened at Tarves on 16 Dec 1736. Although not proven to be the same person, a Patrick Duguid had a daughter, Margaret Duguid, who was christened on 24 Mar 1771, at Old Meldrum. I believe she may have been the same Margaret Duguid who married Peter Murker on 27 Jun 1792, at Tarves. Their daughter, Margaret Murker (b.6 Jun 1793) m. Thomas Forrest (b.5 Jan 1790) at Belhelvie on 29 Nov 1817. Both were born at Tarves, as were their six children: Thomas (b.19 Sep 1818), Elspet (b.20 Jul 1821), Barbara (b.3 May 1823), Margaret (b.2 Sep 1825), Patrick (b. 9 Jan 1829), and Hellen (b. 28 Jun 1833). Thomas Forrest's daughter Margaret was my paternal g-grandmother. Her full name was Margaret Duguid Forrest. In 1835, when penning the births of his children in the family Bible, Thomas Sr. noted the family residence as "Lochtowne of Kithfield" (sic) which, I presume, was a neighborhood within Keithfield, Tarves. The 1841 Census enumerates him as an agricultural laborer. I would welcome contact from my cousins who share this ancestry.

red mail George King Grant - (Kemnay - Aberdeenshire)
I am looking for threads Of my Grandfather George King Grant b 1874 aberdeen and his wife Isabella M Thom b 1876. They either owned or rented a cottage in Kemnay 1920s early 1930s.
Since penning my posting headed 'Wellbush' , Kemnay , I have been advised as follows : "Wellbush is indeed the name of a farm on the outskirts of the village... It came into being in the early 19th century as the result of amalgamation of holdings and amounted to some eighty acres... It was sometimes known as Greenkirtle and the road it was situated on was Greenkirtle Road. ..Several acres of the present day holding, nearest the village, are at present being developed and around 100 houses being built thereon... The tenant farmer's name at Wellbush at the time of your relative's marriage was William Andrew, who took on the tenancy in the 1850s... His son retired from the farm in the early 20th century... By one of these queer quirks of fate, it is a descendant of the Andrew family who now stays in the farm house (recently rebuilt)... Inverury was indeed so spelt at the time of your forebear's wedding and was changed to the present day spelling in (I think) 1866 as there was considerable confusion with mail deliveries - much of the mail landing at Inveraray on the west . "

red mail Rev Alexander Murray & Eliza Hardie - (Kirkton of Culsalmond - Aberdeenshire)
My 2 x great grandfather's sister Elize Isabella Hardie (b 20.5.1835 in Ordiquhill, Banff had an affair with the Rev Alexander Murray who was Church of Scotland minister in Culslmond in the late 1850s - early 1860s. His birthplace is shown on the 1861 census as Aberdeen. At that time the Rev Alexander was aged 31 and already a widower. I haven't been able to trace any details of his deceased wife. In 1861 he was living at Auchinleader? in the parish of Forgue. Eliza Hardie was living with him as a servant. They had an illegitimate child, Alexander George Murray, born 17.1.1862 in Aberdeen. On the birth certificate he is shown as a teacher. They married two weeks after the birth and the baby was subsequently legitimised. All three emigrated to Canada probably before the end of 1862. In Canada Alexander resumed teaching but not apparently the ministry. Was he defrocked or excommunicated? They prospered and Alexander George became a barrister and had numerous descendants. However it is likely that the scandal precipitated the seminal event in my family history; the migration of nearly all of Eliza's brothers and sisters to East Lothian and Edinburgh. Therefore I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has knowledge of this affair or is related to Alexander and Eliza.
