red mail Innkeeper of New Byth
My great (3) grandfather John Pirie, seems to have mysteriously disappeared sometime after his marriage to my great (3) grandmother Eliza Moore at St. Paul's Chapel, Aberdeen in 1824. They had a daughter, Mary Frances (birthdate not known). A letter (writer unknown) seemed to have been enquiring as to his whereabouts. The reply, the original which I have, stated that "information might be had from Mrs. Chalmers of Gardenstone or Mrs Urquhart of New Byth". The Moore family lived in London. John Pirie was said in the letter to have been an innkeeper of New Byth, son of a John Pirie who lived at a farm called Bagara Hill, Troup. I can find out nothing more. Would love to know what happened to him. Did he abscond or did he die on a journey back to Scotland? There seem to be a lot of John Piries in that area, so I will probably never know, but would be most grateful if anyone can help.
red mail Tewnion/Keith
Does anyone have any information regarding a family Tewnion. They lived on a farm/croft next to Upper Tillymaud, New Byth. I think in the late 1920's Robert Tewnion married "the girl next door" from Upper Tillymaud who's last name was Keith. Any info would be appreciated.

Olivia lived at Nether Brae 1861-1891, and was at New Byth in 1901; she died there in 1908. Known grand-daughters were Olivia Logan (1871-?) and Mary McKay (c1868-?).
