red mail Isabel Geddes married James Gauld 1819
My ancestor Isabella Geddes marriedJames Gauld on September 5, 1819, in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Their known children were in order: Jean, Robert, James, Alexander, John, George. James her husband was the son of Robert Gauld and Isobel Commie, so their first son being Robert makes sense. Having checked possible baptisms of an Isabella geddes did discover a Isobella Geddes Mother Jean Gordon Father Alexr Geddes However this woman seems to get married to a Philip McRae and that town is MILES away so its unlikely. Theres this one but its again 18 miles away so unlikely Isabella Geddes Mother Isabel Noble Father Alexr. Geddes Baptism 4 Feb 1799 Fordyce,Banff,Scotland This pretty much leaves only Isabel Geddes Mother Janet Bawie Father William Geddes Baptism 17 Mar 1788 Huntly,Aberdeen,Sco unfortunately theres another Isabel geddes marrying Spouse Alexr. Stewart Marriage 6 Sep 1810 Cairnie By Huntly,Aberdeen,Scotland It doesnt make sense that Isabel would be the daughter of Janet and William because no known child of theirs- at least on ancestry- is called William, but there is an Alexander and there is a Jean; now Jean could be somewhat naming her child after Jane but why doesnt she name a child after William, the only possible dad? Unless William was either an abusive drunk or died during Isabels infancy and her mother remarried or remained single, it doesnt make sense that Isabella and James would ignore Williams name in their children. Unless the Isabel who married Alexander Stewart and James Gauld in Huntly was the same woman and she chose to name her son with James as Alexander to honour a deceased husband or whatever? Could anyone help with this please? there was an ALEXr. STEWART shoe maker in Huntly who died 22nd December 1814 but his wife was MARGARET and this is inscribed on the gravestone at dunbeddan graveyard So this wasnt the Alexander Stewart who married the Isabella geddes in Huntly. What this means is that my one, who married with James Gauld, could not have been the widow of Alexander Stewart, as the one who died in 1814 was not the one who married an Isabel Geddes. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!

I am researching the family of David Coutts (b1858 Huntly) and Barbara Adam (1861 Drumblade). The 1911 census states 17 children born to this couple, 2 having died. In my searching I can only account for 16 children born (which includes illegitimate) and 1 death. I would be grateful for any information on this family.

Theodore Duffton Barron Shand
Trying to discover why this member of the Shand family was given such an unusual name - all others have typical names of the 1870's. He was born 18.01.1876 in 9 West Park Street, Huntly to George and Isabella Shand and had 10 siblings to date. He never married Elspet Scott but fathered 2 children with her. He died in 1920 as a result of an industrial accident in a sheet metal factory in Glasgow. If anyone has heard any stories about this Shand family, I'd be very interested.
