Member's Profile
My name is Sue and I live in Auckland, New Zealand. I started researching my family tree back in the 80's. I never met my English grandparents, as my mother was born when they were in their 40's, and they died about 60, but her father apparently used to say that his mother's family came from a place called Selly Oak. It turned out that his great- grandfather, John Rodway, built a place called Selly hall in Birmingham in 1830-1833. John Rodway's ancestors can be traced quite far back but his wife Susannah (nee Barron)is much harder to trace, perhaps because of being Catholic. I had to stop my research for a couple of decades while I raised a large family, but have recently found the time to take it up again with my children having grown up! Its much easier now with computers and I was very excited recently to find we even had a distant connection through marriage (via my great grandmother's brother) with Clement Attlee. Looking forward to making contact with other family researchers.
