red mail Gone With The Wind.
Born 2 December 1880, orphaned at 3, taken as a ward of Michael and Margaret Bonar, who lived in Lennoxtown with daughters Agnes and Mary, and a nephew of Margaret, James Meechan, the boy Bernard Francis McManus, flourished and as a 26-year-old coal miner, married Margaret Hamil, of Benchloich Farm, at St Machan's RCC, fathered a boy, Bernard Joseph, born 1907 in Lennoxtown, and a girl, Mary Jane, born in 1909, in Bellshill. Amid thus far trackless mysteries at the Lennoxtown home, called Mount Pleasant, BFMcM arrives in Bellshill three months after his daughter's birth, duly registers her arrival and, himself, disappears forever from the public record. Surely, other Lennoxtown families knew the Bonars and "Frank" McManus in the early 20th Century. What did they know? What can their descendants now say? I'm seeking this missing man, my grandfather.
