red mail Cochranes of Johnstone
Hi, I have discovered cousins of ours in Johnstone. They all descend from Thomas Cochrane a brother of my great great great grandfather who immigrated from County Londonderry and settled in Johnstone around 1839. He appears in the 1841 census there and died in 1869. The last of the family I know descended from Thomas's son James (b. 1856) who married Annie Wilkie. Their son was James Cochrane (1891-17 Aug 1956) who married Annie Lindie on 27 Nov 1926 in Glasgow. They lived on Divinity Street, Johnstone and had a daughter, Mary Lindie Cochrane, b. 1929 and a son Samuel "Sam", possibly others. Would appreciate hearing from any who remembers this family. Would love to catch up with them! Thank you. Richard

Would appreciate any information on John and Janet PARK, John and Archibald were miners. Were there other siblings, did Archibald come to Australia alone or with family. Unable to find much from this end. Archibalds marriage certificate said he was born: Bridge on Johnstone Renfrewshire. Can anyone explain how the 'Bridge on' came about? Thanks!!!
red mail HAMILTON
I am looking for descendants of Thomas Hamilton(1) b <1840> in Ireland and Mary Anne Leitch b <1842> Ireland. Their children were Thomas Hamilton(2) 7 Apr 1865 Johnstone, Renfrew, Charles 12 Feb 1867, Daniel Leitch Hamilton 8 Jan 1870 and Sarah Hamilton 06 Jan 1869 all born in Abbey, Paisley. Thomas (2) was enlisted in the Light Infantry Royal Marine Corps in 1881 and 1891. He married Catherine Cocking. It appears they may have separated before his death which would have been between 1919 and 1927. I am particularly interested in tracing the record of where and how he died. There have been reports that he died in Halifax, but I don't know if this was North Riding, YOrkshire or Canada. Thomas Hamilton (1) was the son of Daniel Hamilton and Martha McFarlane. Both parents died in Scotland.
