red mail Constantine family- Consistone
Any information on the Constantine family - we have traced them back living in Conistone to the 1600's but know nothing about them - were they named after the village or was the village named after them ? We dont know what they did for a living - my husband whose ancestors they are would love to know His 3rd Great Grandfather was William Constantine (Bn 1786 in Settle died 1860 in Sheffield). This is where it started to go wrong for our Constantine line. It appears that William decided to go to London. None of his other brothers and sisters did they all stayed in Yorkshire. We dont know why he went to London to seek his fortune maybe? In 1812 he married Elizabeth Dales (Believed bn 1794 in London and died before 1825) at St Martin in the Fields, London. They had three children William, Hannah and Charles (Bn 1813 in Shoreditch, Middlesex died 1882 in Bethnal Green) Elizabeth died by age 31 and William remarried Hannah Bushell. We dont know if they had any children. William Constantine senior, William junior and Hannah all returned to Yorkshire. William senior became a scissor filer in Sheffield. Charles stayed in London and fell upon hard times. His family then ended up in the workshouse very sad
