REA/RAY FARMER family-Lapley,Staffordshire
I'm looking for descendants of my 3x Great Grandmother, Catherine Farmer REA.She was born in 1804, in Lapley,Staffordshire, the daughter of Jane FARMER, and lived in Newport,Church Aston and Brewood. She married Samuel BARLOW and had 12 children, and died in 1844 in Newport South,Shropshire. Her children were: Eliza born 1827,Brewood;Thomas b. 1828,Brewood;William b. 1830 Brewood;John b. 1831 Church Aston;Henry, (my 2x Great Grandfather) b. 1832 Newport died 1913 Wanalta, near Rushworth, Victoria,Australia;Catherine b. 1833 Newport;Sarah Jane b. 1835 Newport, died 1915;Joseph b. 1836 Newport, Mary Ann b, 1838 Newport;Samuel b. 1839 Newport;Edwin b. 1841 Newport;and finally James b. 1844 Newport-Catherine died shortly after he was born in the same year. Henry and his older brother William emigrated to Australia in 1850,on the ship the "Ashburton", landing at Port Adelaide,SA, travelling to each new place where gold was found before staying in Melbourne. Henry worked as a butcher in Brighton, Melbourne,Victoria, then moved to Wanalta, near Rushworth, and continued butchering and farming on his own property. He married an Irish lass from Laois,Ireland, Catherine FLEMING (1836-1921) and raised their own large family of 10 children. There would be many hundreds or even thousands of BARLOW/REA/RAY descendants; I would really love to hear from you.I'm happy to provide or exchange information about the Barlow line also, both here in Australia and in the UK.
