Couper or Wallace, Ochiltree
Does anyone have any information on Gilbert Cooper/Couper who married Margaret Wallace in Ochiltree in June 1826? I'd like to find out if these are the same Gilbert and Margaret who were the parents of Jane (Jeannie) Couper who married James McDonald in Glasgow in 1866; Gilbert is noted on the marriage record as a labourer.

red mail Howatson / Darntaggert Farm
I am interested in the Howatson family which farmed Darntaggert (various spellings) Farm nr Ochiltree, from about 1750 to about 1890. This family also held the farms of Burnock Head, Mains, Little Burnock Head, Auchencloigh and Auchinleck (subject to spelling errors) at various periods from about 1680 to about 1890 when it appears to have died out or left the area. Associated names are Smith of Barturk Farm (fl about 1780 to about 1850) and Patrick Simson, Ochiltree schoolmaster and sessions clerk (fl 1760 to 1850) There is a book called 'Ochiltree...' published about 1930 which mentions many many Ochiltree and district names.
red mail Dutch connection
My gg grandfather, Mungo Sloan was born in Ochiltree and married the Dutchborn Elizabeth Decoque or De Kok. They were married in Middelburg, Holland. I am looking for a likely explanation for this Dutch Scottish liaison.
