Mary Pearce
Mary, born early 1800's was my Great grand mother. Mary married Sgt Thomas Litchfield, of the 51st Regiment at the parish church of Ballysax in Count Kildare on the 26th September 1856. The witnesses were Mary McDonnall and John Conway **** The church is located close to the Curragh Camp. Mary gave birth to a daughter, Henrietta, on the 24th November 1858 at South Barracks Walmer Kent England, Thomas Litchfield father. The birth certificate clearly states Mary's maiden name to be Pearce and her home was in Tipperary. Sgt Litchfield died in India . My GGF , a comrade in arms met and married Mary in Lahore. GGF, Mary and Henrietta eventually returned to England and on the 10th May 1866, at the Armory Barracks, Cirencester, Gloucestershire England, Mary gave birth to a son Robert - my grand father - , the father was Staff Sergeant Robert Owen my Great Grand Father. Mary is now firmly centered in England, therefore would you now look at the Village of Warwick in Warwickshire and the Heading is Robert / Mary Owen. This will provide more details of Mary's family and my interest for more information of my Irish decendant's.

red mail Tipperary
Hope this will be of help to anyone with Irish roots especially overseas members. Tipperary was a county, which had a town of the same name. So it is essential initially to take steps to find out which township or village in that county that they hailed from as 'Tipperary' is too general a term and given the proliferation of Irish surnames an almost impossible task to trace a particular person.

Shortt - Fitzgerald from Pallas, (near Toomyvara) Co. Tipperary
My Great, Great Grandparents were John Shortt (1793-1847) and Mary Anne Fitzgerald (1796-1873). Their son, also named John Shortt, was born in County Tipperary in 1830. On 3 Sep 1862, John (junior) married Harriet Anne Burriss at Saint Mary, Edge Hill, in Lancashire, England. John & Harriet immigrated to New Zealand on the ship Belgravia, arriving in Auckland on 10 May 1865. Harriet died on 6 Jan 1866, aged 22. John re-married, to Maria Blackmore and settled at Mangere Bridge, Auckland, NZ. I am interested to learn any family history details, in particular, ancestors of John Shortt (senior), who was the eldest son of John Shortt (known as "John the Elder"), of Pallas/Pallice. Also, any details regarding the ancestors of Mary Anne Fitzgerald, who was the daughter of Edward Fitzgerald, of Coolmore, Laois, Ireland.

red mail Patrick Hogan b. 1780 Tipperary, Ireland
I am looking for any information about Patrick HOGAN (b. @1780 in Ireland, best guess, no other records) who emigrated to America in 1800, to O'Fallon Township, Illinois; married Nancy Simpson Best, 1803; was divorced from her in 1823; disappeared from U.S. census records 1825; sired James HOGAN (1821 - 1911); father of Russell HOGAN (1863 - 1948); father of Harvey HOGAN (1909 - 1974); father of Kendall Russell HOGAN (1941 - 2014); who fathered me. We have traced the genealogy as far back as Patrick, but we have not been able to discover anything more, because of the loss of public records during the Easter Rising of 1916. Thank you.

red mail Power family
I am looking for a Kate Power d.o.b either 1876 or 77. She went to England and married a George Crocker from the Hallsands area of Devon. In 1902 They were were in Hardingstone, Northamptonshire, where George was employed as a coachman. I realize Kate (or Catherine) Power is a fairly common name but if anyone can shed light I'd appreciate it. So far I have been unable to trace the marriage which would provide something more than I have regarding her family origins.
