I'm looking for information on the family of Rosanna CLARK,my 2x Great Grandmother, from Strabane,Co.Tyrone,Ireland.She was born C1830,in Strabane, and died in Ballarat,Victoria,Australia in 1908.Her parents were John CLARK and Martha HARPER,also from Strabane.Rosanna emigrated to Geelong,Victoria, aged 22 on the ship the "James T.Foord" in Dec.1852.
She married John PRESTON from Islip,Oxfordshire in 1854;they had a large family of 12 children and settled near Geelong,Victoria.
John Preston's family's arrival in Australia in 1844 on the "Abberton" has been very well documented in the Preston family history book-"Islip? Where's That?",but I would love to learn more about Rosanna Clark's family in Ireland.Any information would be welcome.

I am wanting to find out more about Charles Johnston Great Great Great Grandfather. Charles resided in Gortondoragh, County Tyrone, Ireland. This is in Castlederg, about 10 miles from Strabane. Charles Johnston died before July 1868. He had 3 children Rebecca, Robert James and Sarah Elizabeth Johnston who left Ireland and settled in New Zealand. Robert James JOHNSTON was born in County Derry, Ireland in about 1840 (from birth records of his daughter Cecil Frances Alexander JOHNSTON in Greymouth New Zealand in 1880) or 1st June, 1842 according to New Zealand Surveyor records. He had an older sister Rebecca JOHNSTON who was born about 1832. His younger sister Sarah Elizabeth Johnston was born about 1847. They all travelled to New Zealand and earliest records say they settled in Reefton, New Zealand. Robert James JOHNSTON married Marian Jennings on 6th April 1869 in Greymouth. They had 7 children in New Zealand: Mary Maud (b.1870, d. 1948, NZ), Ethel Elinor (b.1872, d.1964), Amy Isabella (b. 5th April 1872, Greymouth, NZ. Unmarried. d. 17th Sept. 1908, Invercargill, NZ (age 36), Robert James Galbraith (1873-), Frederick John (1875-1875), Martin/Mabina Cunningham (1877-1877) and Cecil Frances Alexander JOHNSTON (b. September 21st, 1880, Greymouth, NZ, d. 1961, East London, South Africa). They named their last child Cecil after her famous Godmother, the hyme writer and poet Cecil Frances Alexander (born Humphreys). Robert James JOHNSTON was a surveyor and he left for Cape Town, South Africa in 1902. He died in South Africa 22 Sept. 1914, Willowmore, South Africa. Aged 74 years. Rebecca JOHNSTON married George Tilbrook. They did not have any children. Sarah Elizabeth JOHNSTON married Charles Thomas Seabrook and they had 2 children Florence Adeline Seabrook and Frederick Charles Seabrook.

Gillespie family from Strabane
Hi, Im researching a William Gillespie born around 1830 possibly in the area of Strabane. He had at least one brother named James and they both emigrated to Prince Edward Island Canada sometime before 1852. The family originated in Ruthwell, Dumfrieshire Scotland with relatives there who moved directly from Scotland to PEI. Not completely sure but their Fathers name was most likely John. Any information on this family or any Gillespies in the area would be gratefully appreciated.
I am researching my Hughes family history going back to Ireland. My G Grandad (Edward Hughes) was born in Strabane in 1854. His parents were John and Catherine Hughes M.S. Donnelly. Edward Hughes married Mary Ann Mullholland in Glasgow in 1878. His mother, Catherine attended the wedding but his father (John) was deceased at the time. Edward Hughes died in 1921 and his fathers occupation is shown as a Baker on the death certificate. I am guessing that John Hughes was born in the 1820's. Any information on John and Catherine Hughes M.S Donnelly would be greatly appreciated. Regards Derek
Monroe(Munro)Denning, Londonderry Journal - Jan 15, 1773, from London, watchmaker, has settled in Strabane. His Daughter Martha born ca 1788 in Strabane married Joseph Frizzell in Strabane ca 1807. They had 6 children, John ca 1811, Martha ca 1815, Joseph and James, Robert ca 1825 and William ca 1828. Children John, Robert and Martha immigrated to Australia in the 40's followed in 1880 (presumably after Joseph died) by Martha nee Denning and her youngest son William. Any information on the family would be much appreciated.
