red mail Maher/Irwin
Looking for Mary Maher born 1826 in Galway to Hugh Maher and Alley Brien. In her baptism it has William as her father but I am suspecting it should have been marked as Hugh. On her immigration records it says that a Letitia Plunkett was her mother however I dont believe this is correct. Bothers Thomas John and Joseph ( I am hoping I am right) Thanks LK

red mail Maher , Plunket(t)
looking to trace family connections or any information relating to Mary MAHER (parents William Maher,carpenter/ farmer and Letitia Plunkett) who travelled out to Aust on the Agnes Ewing 1842 under the care of Michael and Maria Cavanagh. She had a brother John b. c 1825 in Tullamore, Kings Co.Am uncertain if Mary also born Tullamore, although shipping records state born in Ballinasloe. Mary married Thomas IRWIN (from Enniskillen) in the July of 1842 at Yass, NSW. Can't find how they met, not on same ship but possibly friends with someone from this area who migrated earlier. Any info appreciated. Is William MAHER (parents ?Daniel & Mary) a close relative? He sailed to Aust. 1840, about the same time as Thomas IRWIN.
red mail MADDEN, WHITTAKER, GIVNAN
Looking to trace family connections or any info relating to John MADDEN b. ? 1785/1792? married Bridget WHITTAKER(no known info on her) about 1813 in Clontuskert, Ballinasloe. They had 3 children born there: Patrick b.?1814; Mary b.?1817 and John b.1818. John snr was transported to Aust.in 1820. His son (John Jnr) and the rest of the family followed in the 1839-44 migration, but the daughter Mary may have stayed in Ireland or gone back later? I think John jnr. arrived in NSW with his brother Patrick, in 1839/40 on the ship "Elphinstone", but am not sure of the year. This son John, married Margaret GIVNAN (parents James GIVNAN & Catherine McGEOCH/ Kath Mckeogh)who were from Kilvorragh or Killamangh, Galway. James & Kath had died by 1939 and Margaret came to Aust. as an orphan in the care of her cousin William Geogan & his wife Biddy. William's mother was Mary Givnan, James' sister. Don't know if there were any other children of either James or his sister Mary and if they stayed in Ireland. Any info re: the GIVNAN connection greatly appreciated. Aust info shows Margaret's surname variously stated as Gibney/ Gemmens/ Gemmelin/Gimmellin.
